Culinary Classes + Menus for this Adventure.
During her visits to the Big Island over the past few years, Chef Kristina has discovered the plethora of regenerative farms that thrive on this unique island.
Bringing those stellar, locally sourced ingredients into the kitchen will allow guests to progress beyond just cooking delicious food, they will truly connect with where their food comes from and the revitalizing, living energy those ingredients provide from the mana of the Hawaiian land.

Big Island
The tranquil, warm waters surrounding the Hawaiian Islands offer powerful rejuvenation. Daily ocean excursions will include your choice of swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, surfing or just mellowing on the beach.
Kristina will guide our guests to some of her favorite beach and lava rock shore-lined spots where the waters are gentle and inviting. Our selection of ocean excursions will be the perfect opportunity to meet the local residents including sea turtles, dolphins, monk seals, manta rays and even beach-dwelling goats.
The migratory paths of many whale species bring those graceful creatures right along the Kona coastline, February being the prime time of the year to catch sight of their magical presence!

Whale Spirit Sanctuary
The unique, secluded accommodations of Whale Spirit Sanctuary will offer our guests the healing and peacefulness of Hawaiian sacred grounds. This oasis is a short walk to the playfulness of the ocean. Each room offers the calming symphony of the waves.
For guests wanting a more socially connected experience, staying in the retreat center will be a perfect fit where you will have your own room and share a bath with one other guest. If you crave a dose of privacy to your vacation days then one of the cottages or suites with private bath and separated entrance will be your ideal escape.

Ocean adventure
A short boat ride up the Kona coast from our Sanctuary accommodations is a renown location for swimming with Manta Rays.
In the experienced hands of Eka Canoe Adventures, our retreat guests will board a recreated, historically accurate, Hawaiian sailing canoe for this ocean adventure. We will snorkel and swim in the late day sunshine in clear blue waters, then watch the sun do its graceful dance into the ocean’s horizon.
Once the sky is dark we will slip into the ocean in warming wetsuits for a safely guided and lighted swim to meet the local manta rays.

Yoga & Bodywork
Our retreat schedule will integrate a series of all-levels yoga classes designed to bring forth the fluidity and strength of your body. The graceful guidance of Abby Paterson will welcome guests to find a revitalized flow to their existing yogic rhythms.
For guests who are new to a yoga practice, Abby’s classes will gently welcome you into the expansive healing and fun that can be found in a community of yogis.

Farm Tour
Our Sanctuary accommodations are located in the town of Captain Cook in South Kona on the west side of the Big Island. The rich, volcanic soil and generous rainfall in this particular part of the island produces not just the stellar ingredients we will be cooking with but also the Kona Coast is renown for growing delicate, vibrant coffee beans and richly flavored macadamia nuts – two ingredients that Chef Kristina adamantly believes will simply make your entire life more enjoyable!
Our guests will be visiting Kula Mana Farms, a historic coffee and macadamia nut farm located in the town of Captain Cook, just up the hill from our Sanctuary accommodations. This private tour will be a walking exploration of permaculture farming practices and a sampling of the delectable gems produced on this sacred land.
Kula Mana Farm is a historic Japanese coffee and macadamia nut farm, nestled on the western slopes of Mauna Loa in the Kona coffee growing region of Hawai’i. Farmed since 1919, the steep slopes resist mechanization, but reward the hand labor of our guests.

Guests are encouraged to join us for all the cooking, yoga and ocean events we have planned!!
Yet we respect that each individual has their unique rhythms….so join us for all, some or even just one of the elements offered. We encourage you to explore on your own or simply take time to rest as desired.
We want guests to discover what is their individual recipe for Feeding Their Soul.
